Introduction

These tables list every New Testament verse in which the compared Greek texts differ, and the corrections of the King James English where the Greek agrees. Entries run book by book under this edition’s verse numbers, with the King James number beside any that differs. The introduction explains the choice of texts and the principles of revision.

Each entry compares Scrivener’s reconstruction of the Greek underlying the King James Version with the Byzantine main text of Robinson and Pierpont (RP26). The former is labelled Received Text (TR) where the attached apparatus evidence establishes agreement with Stephanus, and Scrivener’s otherwise. Where the English changes, the entry also compares the King James Version (KJV) with this edition (OLEB).

An ellipsis marks words left out; a verse that cannot be shortened is quoted whole. Where one reading concerns more than one verse, those verses, and any between them, share an entry and are quoted whole. The verses the Byzantine text lacks are given in full where the King James Bible has them.

The Greek retains its accents and punctuation; where an apparatus reads otherwise, its reading is labelled. Both English texts follow this edition’s systematic spelling and punctuation, before the revisions made to single verses, so those common revisions do not appear as textual differences.
