List of Abbreviations

The list below gives the abbreviations used in the notes. A citation gives the abbreviated book name, chapter, and verse, with an en dash in a range and a semicolon between books; Ps. introduces one psalm and Pss. several. Of Brenton’s own list we keep the abbreviations the notes still use, reword some of their meanings, and drop the signs and labels the notes no longer print; we add those this edition uses, and arrange them all alphabetically. The signs of the quotation links are explained in the Introduction.
